National Institute of Technology Announces Extended Deadline and Major Funding Changes to Semiconductor Materials and Equipment Program

On October 16th, 2025, the CHIPS for America, Facilities for Semiconductor Materials and Manufacturing Equipment program page was updated, informing potential eligible applicants of an amendment to the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). This NOFO seeks applications that address the need for critical semiconductor materials, such as chemicals, gases, and other consumable materials, and specialized physical equipment needed to manufacture semiconductors in the United States.

This amendment re-opens the NOFO and extends the original Concept Paper deadline from February 1st, 2024, to November 1, 2026. The amended NOFO removes the $300M project cap, as well as the cost share requirement. The CHIPS incentive award size under the new NOFO will be determined on the application’s quality and relevancy to the agency and program’s priorities.
