Sophia Vomvoris
Sophia Vomvoris joined McAllister & Quinn in 2022 and currently serves as a Director for the firm’s Nonprofit & Public Agencies Practice. In this role, she contributes to the practice’s business development and government relations efforts, manages internal data, provides strategic analysis on policy and legislative developments related to funding opportunities that align with our clients' objectives.

The U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) is accepting grant applications for the FY 2026 Students, Teachers, and Officers Preventing (STOP) School Violence Program.
The STOP School Violence Program grant helps school districts and communities prevent and reduce school violence through training, threat assessment, and safety technology. Up to 95 awards are expected across two funding categories.
BJA STOP, a DOJ funded grant opportunity, offers awards up to $2,000,000 over three years for Category 1 applicants and up to $1,000,000 over three years for Category 2 applicants, with no matching requirement.
STOP School Violence Prevention Grant Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the DOJ federally Funded Grant, there are two categories:

Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (TX) | $1,000,000
Implements the Uvalde Unity Project: Promoting Safety Through Service-Learning. This initiative integrates trauma recovery and safety strategies to directly benefit 360 students with intensive support and provide interventions for an additional 720 students in grades 1 through 9. The program is designed to improve attendance, reduce behavioral issues, and foster a safer, more supportive school climate.
Adams County School District 14 (CO) | $999,066
Implements the Promoting Restorative Justice in School Classrooms project to expand an existing program that offers refocus spaces for students who struggle with cognitive and behavioral issues in the classroom. The program also offers training programs for teachers and staff to learn more about the principles of restorative justice and consider classroom management strategies that seek to support rather than punish students.
Greeley School District #6 (CO) | $810,501
Implements the Build and Deepen a Positive School Climate Initiative to expand restorative practices, implement new threat assessment strategies, and prevent school violence risks among students. The project features a Restorative Practices and Prevention Coordinator, a Threat Management Coordinator, and new Guardian Case Management software to make a district-wide impact.
