Federal nonprofit funding to prevent substance use in our communities.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced the next round of Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program funding to support prevention of youth substance use and strengthen community-level prevention strategies. Coalitions have the opportunity to receive up to 10 years of consistent funding through the two grants – New (Years 1 – 5) and Continuation (Years 6 – 10).
The Drug-Free Communities Program funds nonprofit community-based coalitions, or a nonprofit member of a coalition, that work to prevent and reduce substance use among youth. Each coalition should include youth, parents, businesses, media, schools, youth-servicing organizations, religious or fraternal organizations, law enforcement, civic or volunteer groups, healthcare professionals, a state/local/tribal government agency with substance use prevention expertise, and other prevention organizations.
