Through McAllister & Quinn’s engagement with the program manager at the Defense Health Agency (DHA), we learned of an unmet requirement to develop medical modeling and simulation technologies and curriculum for military personnel. Working with our client, an R1 university with a large academic medical center, we developed a consortium of five other universities, including the Department of Defense’s medical school in Bethesda, MD, to fulfil this requirement. Our work included orchestrating the consortium’s partnership agreement, identifying future corporate partners, and aligning the consortium’s capabilities with the DoD’s requirements. The House of Representatives has added an additional $5 million in funding in the FY 2021 Defense Appropriations Bill. We anticipate that there may be as much as $15 million in the Senate bill when introduced after Labor Day.
