At McAllister & Quinn, we are committed to helping nonprofit organizations advance in their missions and grow their programming. That is why we are excited to announce the launch of our Grants Academy – a new, hands-on, virtual training program designed specifically for new or smaller nonprofits seeking to strengthen their ability to pursue and secure federal, state, and local grant funding.
Why We Created the Grants Academy
As it’s a unique time in Washington, we’re launching this new Grants Academy to help nonprofits navigate the current funding environment, prioritize resources, and prepare for state, foundation, and future federal funding opportunities.
Navigating the world of federal, state, and foundation grants can be overwhelming and confusing, especially for organizations that are just starting out or have limited internal resources. McAllister & Quinn’s Grants Academy is designed to bridge that gap, equipping participants with the tools and knowledge they need to become grants ready.
Our goal is simple: to demystify the federal, state, and local grants process and build lasting capacity in nonprofit organizations through structured training, expert consultation, and practical resources.
Who Should Attend?
- New or emerging nonprofit organizations
- Staff preparing to pursue federal or foundation funding for the first time
- Small nonprofits with limited grant writing capacity
- Teams looking to build or refresh their grants knowledge
What to Expect
The Grants Academy features a series of eight interactive learning sessions held virtually via Zoom, beginning May 7, 2025, and continuing weekly through June 26, 2025.
Each session will focus on a critical aspect of the grants process – from understanding where to find funding opportunities, to crafting a strong proposal, building a budget, using your organization’s data effectively, and more.
Sessions will focus on the importance of gathering compelling data, building a budget, using logic models to develop projects, and messaging for potential funders.
In addition to the training sessions, participants will also have access to weekly open consultation hours with McAllister & Quinn grant professionals, allowing for personalized Q&A and deeper discussion of the week’s topics.
Training Topics Include:
- Getting Ready for Federal Grants – Understanding registrations, standard components, and application structure
- Reading and Responding to NOFOs – Aligning goals with agency priorities and understanding review criteria
- Grant Planning and Writing – Assembling a team, creating timelines, and structuring a compelling proposal
