Weston Haycock provides strategic planning and government relations expertise to clients on matters relating to space, defense, and advanced technology who seek opportunities to secure funding through federal grants, procurement contracts, and other supportive mechanisms. With over half a decade of expertise overseeing a broad legislative portfolio and related appropriations on Capitol Hill, Weston offers a unique insight into how organizations successfully secure federal dollars. His legislative accomplishments include provisions in the PACT Act, which expanded health care for toxic exposed veterans, and the VIPER Act, which protected hundreds of millions of dollars in ongoing research and expanded research capabilities for the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Prior to joining McAllister and Quinn, Weston worked on Capitol Hill in the office of Senator Jon Tester, and later as Professional staff on the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. His portfolio included artificial intelligence, advanced technology, medical research, academic partnerships, alternative therapies, employment and transition, defense and intelligence. He oversaw the creation and implementation of large federal mandates, such as the establishment of a 35-member research consortium which spanned 9 federal departments and secured critical resources for the state of Montana, including the first VA Research site in the state. His role also included oversight of a $4 billion annual budgeted research apparatus with over 6,000 active projects and the accompanying complex public and private sector partnership network. His familiarity with the operations of the federal government and exposure to successful advocacy campaigns grants an insider understanding in the role of government relations.
