Director of Higher Education Grants Services

Jeremy Asay serves as the Director of Higher Education Grants Services at McAllister & Quinn, where he plays a central role in strengthening the firm’s higher education grants practice. In this capacity, Mr. Asay oversees the recruitment and onboarding of new consultants, ensuring that the practice maintains a highly skilled and mission‑aligned writing network. He also leads efforts to build the internal capacity of higher education clients, enabling institutions to operate with greater agility and effectiveness in federal and foundation grant writing, reporting, and project implementation. In addition, Mr. Asay directs complex grant development initiatives, guiding teams of principal investigators, senior administrators, and research professionals through rigorous proposal processes that demand precision, strategic alignment, and full compliance with funding agency requirements.

Mr. Asay brings extensive experience in prospecting, cultivating, and submitting competitive proposals to prominent national foundations committed to advancing higher education priorities. His approach integrates strategic program design, evidence‑based student success practices, and clear institutional storytelling to elevate clients’ competitiveness for major funding opportunities.

Prior to joining McAllister & Quinn full‑time in 2022, Mr. Asay served in several roles within the education and nonprofit sectors, including Senior Manager of Development and Consulting for the Gateway to College National Network and Director of Communication and Development at the Freedom Writers Foundation. His previous work included national consulting engagements focused on student support models, collective impact strategies, and educator development, supported by partnerships with foundations and educational leaders across the country.

Mr. Asay holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Theory and Rhetoric from the University of Utah and a Master of Arts in Multicultural Education from the University of Alaska Southeast. He is a scholarship recipient of the Freedom Writers Teaching Institute and a contributor and editor for the New York Times bestselling nonfiction book Teaching Hope (Penguin, 2009).
