Santa Barbara, CA — [October 22, 2025]The Family Service Agency of Santa Barbara County (FSA), in partnership with McAllister & Quinn (M&Q), is proud to announce the award of two major federal grants totaling $6.75 million to expand services for elder victims of abuse and to strengthen family relationships and economic stability across the county.

The first award, a $500,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice Office for Victims of Crime, will support FSA’s Elder Victims of Abuse (EVA) Expansion Project. This initiative will provide comprehensive case management, victim advocacy, and mental health services to older adults in Santa Barbara County who have experienced fraud, abuse, or exploitation. Over the next three years, EVA will deliver more than 12,000 hours of direct services to at least 120 victims, helping them stabilize their lives and reduce the risk of re-victimization.

The second award, a $6.25 million grant from the Administration for Children and Families under the Helping Every Area of Relationships Thrive – Adults (HEART) program, will fund FSA’s Connected Couples, Connected Families (CCCF) initiative. Over five years, CCCF will serve more than 780 individuals and couples, offering workshops in communication, parenting, financial literacy, and employment readiness. The program aims to improve family functioning, reduce stress, and promote economic independence for families facing complex challenges.

“We are beyond grateful for these grants and the help we can extend to families and seniors in need,” said Paul Katan, Director of Grants & Partnerships at FSA.

“These grants literally change the trajectories of people’s lives. Fathers and older adults heal from harsh circumstances, while developing the skills needed to live their best lives.”

Suzanna Vaughan, Director of Federal Grants at McAllister & Quinn, added, “We are thrilled for FSA and honored to collaborate with their team in securing these competitive federal grants. Their commitment to serving vulnerable populations is inspiring, and we’re proud to support their vital work.”
