Proposal Reviews

McAllister & Quinn provides proposal review and revision support services customized to the needs of the principal investigator and to the aims of sponsor-specific rules and regulations. We engage individuals from the grant consultant network, particularly former federal program officers or those experienced in federal panel review, to evaluate concepts and proposals at several stages in the grant writing process. In some cases our team reviews proposal storyboards and approach for alignment to the solicitation. In other instances, we deploy a review team to advise on the budget and review the final proposal draft to predict how the funder may score the proposal. Our review products include a completed evaluative rubric and a tracked changes version of the draft, in addition to a conference or video call debrief with the proposing team to discuss the reviewers’ feedback.

As an example, McAllister & Quinn worked with one of its Emerging Research Institutions to provide a review of NSF Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER) application, which received a $750k award. The grant supports “early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education and to lead advances in the mission of their department or organization.”
