USDA DLT Grant connects rural residents with healthcare providers and educators.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) released the FY2026 Distance Learning and Telemedicine (DLT) Grant Program to expand access to education and healthcare in rural communities through purchasing equipment and technology.
Telemedicine investments provide rural healthcare workers with remote technology, including video calls and secure messaging, to provide healthcare services online, instead of in person.
Distance learning serves as an interactive link between students and teachers to deliver educational programs in remote areas. Similarly, telemedicine connects medical professionals to share best practices, provide training, and collaborate on care to improve healthcare services for residents.
Federal USDA DLT grant funds can be used to purchase telemedicine or distance learning equipment, including:
-
Audio, video, and interactive video equipment
-
Broadband facilities, including installation
-
Computer hardware, network components, and software
-
Instructional programming, including course material and technology
-
Technical assistance and instruction on using eligible technology/equipment
-
Maintenance contracts, site licenses, and extended warranties
