Senior Vice President Ellen Riddleberger Serves as Expert Guest Speaker
McAllister & Quinn’s Senior Vice President, Ellen Riddleberger appeared as a guest speaker on the July 17th session of the Capitol Conversations webinar series hosted by Lutheran Services in America.
Ellen’s presentation drew on her nearly thirty years of experience working in the federal funding arena. Her career began on Capitol Hill, where she served as Chief of Staff and Appropriations Associate Staff for U.S. Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard. During nearly two decades with McAllister & Quinn, Ellen has served as a key leader of our firm, helping to secure hundreds of millions of dollars in state, foundation, and federal funding for nonprofits.
Ellen set the stage by providing updates on the status of this year’s federal budget and appropriations process and how it has differed from previous years. She talked through the changes in funding priorities put in place by the current Administration and highlighted federal grants that are currently open or expected that nonprofits can apply for.
Ellen noted the growing importance of diversifying nonprofit funding streams through earmarks, along with state and foundation grants. She ended by discussing opioid settlement funds as a funding source for nonprofits performing eligible services.
The webinar also featured Edwin Park, a Research Professor from Georgetown University’s Center for Children and Families. Edwin’s presentation focused on navigating the changing landscape of Medicaid, focusing on how federal changes could affect future accessibility and funding.
Together, Ellen and Edwin provided listeners with an update on the changing funding landscape and policy risks to watch in the coming months.
