Managing Director, Interdisciplinary Projects, Kelsey Hassevoort

Dr. Kelsey Hassevoort is a Managing Director in McAllister & Quinn’s Research Universities Practice. In this role, she provides leadership across strategic intelligence, capacity building, project management, and grant consulting services for research university clients. Kelsey enjoys working closely with research leadership, investigators, and research development professionals to understand institutional goals and priorities and to translate data-driven insights about the funding landscape into actionable guidance that informs faculty and staff development, proposal strategy, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Through this work, she helps clients strengthen research programs, align institutional strengths with the funding opportunities, and advance competitive, multidisciplinary research initiatives and proposals.

Prior to joining McAllister & Quinn, Kelsey served as a Research Development Manager in the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Institute at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Drawing upon her 10+ years of managing large multidisciplinary projects and working with research teams, she led research programs, seminars, and workshops and worked directly with investigators as they developed community partnerships and pursued federal research funding. During her time at the university, she served on the Chancellor’s Coordinating Council on Public Engagement, collaborating with public engagement professionals across campus to advance the university’s public engagement efforts in research, teaching, and outreach.

A Michigan native, Kelsey earned a B.A. in biology from Kalamazoo College and a Ph.D. in neuroscience from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She is an active member of the National Organization of Research Development Professionals (NORDP), where she serves as co-chair of the Communications Working Group and the Committee on Inclusive Excellence.
