Dr. Deji Akanbi serves as Vice President of the Advanced Technology Practice at McAllister & Quinn. In this capacity, Dr. Akanbi assists for-profit engineering and technology companies maximize their chances of obtaining grants from federal government agencies.
Dr. Akanbi also provides technical and strategic advice to clients in the engineering and technology, healthcare and life sciences, advanced technology and defense-related industries that seek opportunities to enhance funding through Federal research and project grants. Dr. Akanbi provides clients with advice and support to develop relationships, identify appropriate funding opportunities, and apply for funding at Federal agencies.
Dr. Akanbi is an experienced professional engineer and technology manager with experience in several industries including computer hardware and software, information technology, telecommunications, oil and gas, energy, and the government research and development sector. He has led research and product engineering and technology teams in Fortune 500 companies and in a Federally funded research and development center.
Prior to joining McAllister & Quinn, Dr. Akanbi served as Technology Advisor for complex engineering patents and inventions at Banner & Witcoff. Before this, Dr. Akanbi worked for Sandia National Laboratories, where he was a Principal Engineer responsible for leading an interdisciplinary engineering team on research and new product development in support of the United States Department of Energy (DOE). Before joining Sandia National Laboratories, Dr. Akanbi was a Principal Engineer at Halliburton where he led a team on engineers and technologists on product development on novel oil well intervention monitoring and diagnostics using electronic sensors, fiber optics and optoelectronics. He also contributed to the advancement of digital media storage, networking, and data communication when he was a Technology Strategist at Hewlett Packard.
Dr. Akanbi earned his B.Sc., summa cum laude, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Dr. Akanbi is a licensed professional engineer (P.E.) and has published several papers in top journals and conference proceedings. He also holds two patents.
