Venable Joins Growing Research Institutions, Nonprofit & Higher Ed Practices

(Washington, DC) – Dr. Jessica Venable, an external funding expert with more than 16 years of experience in research development at higher education institutions and associations, has joined McAllister & Quinn as a Managing Director.

Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Venable most recently served as Coordinator for Research Development Services at Virginia Commonwealth University.

“Jessica has joined our firm at a time of tremendous growth,” said Andy Quinn, firm co-founder. “We will draw upon Jessica’s deep experience in sponsored research and program management to help serve our larger institutions, all of whom have the need for experts who truly understand what it takes to compete for federal funding in this environment.”

McAllister & Quinn has a higher education practice that serves small and mid-size colleges and universities and a Research Universities & Institutions Practice that serves an increasing number of larger clients that include public and private research universities, integrated medical research practices, academic medical centers, and other research-intensive organizations and that are seeking to diversify their sources of sponsored research dollars, as well as expand efforts to build technology consortiums.

Prior to her nine-year career at VCU, Jessica worked consistently in the fields of sponsored programming for education reform in areas serving high populations of underrepresented ethnic minorities (including HBCUs, HSIs, and tribal communities). She was a Program Officer at the National Alliance of State Science and Mathematics Coalitions, where she served as the staff liaison to coalitions of state business, public policy, and education organizations partnering for STEM education reform.  Before that she was also Program Manager at the George Washington University Center for the Study of Globalization and prior to this was a Program Associate of the Grants Resource Center at the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, Additionally, she has held research positions at NASA and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
