Health Team Helps Win $2 Million CMS/ACO Investment Model Grant

A large Northeast healthcare system was awarded $2 million through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) ACO Investment Model (AIM) to establish an ACO network to support the care of Medicare assigned beneficiaries residing in multiple rural counties within the state. With only 41 participants nationwide, the purpose of the AIM is to test the use of pre-paid shared savings to encourage new ACOs to form in rural and underserved areas and to encourage current Medicare Shared Savings Program ACOs to transition to arrangements with greater financial risk.
